In this post I will share my experience of cooking Jenkins, backed up by source sontrol configs, not UI.
Diving into Jenkins it is usefull to know, that:
- Jenkins was originally developed as the Hudson project in Sun Microsystems. Then it was forked in 2010. Hudson is an Oracle product, Jenkins - opensource. So don’t get confused with Hudson namespace used in Jenkins.1
- Kohsuke Kawaguchi is creator and active developer of Jenkins
- Jenkins was developed for Java originally
- CloudBees - SASS platform, based on Jenkins. It has some stuff, that is not opensourced. Kohsuke Kawaguchi is a Chief Technology Officer.
Syntax highlighting is a feature that displays source code, in different colors and fonts according to the category of terms. This feature facilitates writing in a structured language such as a programming language or a markup language as both structures and syntax errors are visually distinct. Highlighting does not affect the meaning of the text itself; it is intended only for human readers.1
